new to me wastegate

Never seen these before just wondering how they do. The local V8 guys like them. Seems like a cool design just a piston and super small

Tial seems to be the standard of the industry, these days. With their new short stacked, water cooled wastegates, they're going to be hard to beat. A gate like that? Who knows? Time will tell. If the turbo V8 guys are running them, and have been for a while, maybe they're proven and if the price is right, worth running. The nice thing about a Tial is that replacement/repair parts are readily and widely available.
