Hello, first post on this forum. I tried searching but didn't find anything directly relevant to me. If i somehow did this post incorrectly, my apologies.
ANYWAY
I own 87/1000, recently bought from an older Gentlemen who was the original owner (92000 miles) and left it sitting for years. I've wrapped up all the necessary servicing (trans, oil, coolant, t belt etc) and got the car running smoothly. Unfortunately the A/C system is completely shot. Condenser has holes in it, lines are empty and were exposed to corrosion and the compressor does not cycle at all. The whole ac system would require a rebuild. My goal for the car is to restore it to stock condition, enjoy it for a few months to ensure its reliability/quality, then resell it to someone here in the community with appreciation for the car.
Rebuilding the whole system would be a bit costly and an invasive procedure under the hood. I have no problem doing it, but I'd like to hear from the veteran users whether I'll see a return in value from an ac rebuild come time to resell. Again my end goal is to sell the car as a mostly stock restoration after a few months of enjoying the end product.
