This came from the For Sales threads but figured I would throw it out to General. Nate getting a little heat about the part-out's which brought up a question in my mind. This since we are ALL responsible for the lifespan of our community and, by extension, the cars that bring us to them.
Quoting NateCrisman:
Hey at least when I buy one, the parts of that car get used to improve someone else's car. This GVR4 was rotting in the prev owners driveway for over a year. And the same thing with the guy before that. That IMO is even worse than a partout.
There was ZERO interest in anyone buying this car to fix up, it sat on galantvr4.org's for sale section for months and months with zero interest. It would have ended up in the junkyard regardless of if I bought it or someone else bought it as a project (and they became a lawn ornament for the third time).
Just wait till I get the capital going to start buying nice clean Evo8's and gutting them.
To be honest, I've seen old coronets and such from that era fixed up after a lot of rust. Took welding but they were fixed. Yes our cars are solid so it's not like we can drop a frame and replace it, but there are a lot of rotting cars out there that CAN be repaired. I don't understand why our "class" of gearheads can't have the same determination as previous. Especially with limited runs as the VR4's are.
Anyways, yes, better parted than just scrapped from where they stood.
