Fixing a COP setup/diagnosing the problem

Check how its wired up as well, If its put together with butt connectors it may be the problem. The wires corrode and build up resistance. Thats why when I've wired up the ones I've built I always solder and use heat shrink.

Also check the resistance of the coil. I think its 1 ohm of resistance.

Also, I do not show it in the diagram, but doesn't that capacitor thingy need to be grounded (by attacheing it to a metal location)?
