Is $500 a good price for a core engine?

I'm thinking of building an engine and seems like taking my time while still driving would be a good thing! This engine is close to me and seems like a decent deal......

Looks like a pretty good deal to me for a complete setup, pan to valve cover.

It depends on what parts of the motor your going to reuse really, to me 500 is too much for one your going to pull apart andrebuild anyways. You should be able to pick up a good usable block crank and head for around 300 if you do your shopping right. I put a good running 6bolt in my 2g for $200. Now granted I bought a whole 1g pulled the motor then sold the shell for $100 less than I payer for it
