If a timing belt has sat on the shelf/inside a car for 2+ years is it still ok?

I have a Napa (made by Gates) belt still in the box, probably bought two plus years ago. I was wondering if there would be any issues with longevity of it?

I cant imagine there would be but maybe?

I'd say as long as it stayed dry then you are perfectly fine. You'd be surprised at how long some of that stuff sits on the parts store shelves.

It has not been under tension so I would say it is fine to use.

It will be good, I bought a t belt three years ago and put it on last october. Runs fine.
