Wow, I'd just like to put it out there that Turboman sent me that exact same post twice (one with a misspelling and no read reciept). I'll say here what I replied to him. That is probably the best example of why they are useless. Not only is there an admittance of massive amounts of glare, but 12000K bulbs give off lots of non-visible light. 4300K gives the most visible light which is why almost all factory lights use this temperature.

Lets see a shot of the light pattern on a wall at 20ft. It would be a much more telling photo.

quote name=turbowop]Everything Blown mentioned is an improvement. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif Everything about HID's in reflector housings is pure fail. Talk about a horrible analogy.

Quoting Blown1:
So from here forth with and going forward I hereby ban all non oem non retrofit hid kits on said galant
and in accordance with galantvr4 law section 121 article 2 evo suspensions (VIII-X)modded or adapted to
said galant chassis is deemed illegal, immoral and unsafe due to non oem welding and is also outlawed and
while we are at remove all 4 bolt rear ends and 3000gt calipers with unproven race brackets and re-drilled
rotors to make them fit on 4 lug setups that may endanger said galants and other vehicles. Anyone found
in violation of these laws will be immediately banned from this board picked up and be executed on the spot.

Quoting GVR4_671 :
I bought the car with an HID kit in it and got a ticket for them being too bright.

Bringing this back, Has anybody tried to put HID in their factory USDSM fog lights? They have projectors in them. My Both my fog lamps have broken lenses so there is no light diffuser

I searched a little.

Bringing it back again....

Longtime Vr4 owner who's looking to revamp some lighting. Does anyone sell proper retrofit setups for our Vr4's?

Or can anyone link me to a DIY, I don't mind the work, but just looking at the housing, there doesn't seem to be enough room inside to perform a retrofit in the stock housings.

Wow this is an old one.
Anyhoo, if you have to have HID go for it dude BUT there is an option. If you just want better nighttime visibility I would sugguest the Toshiba HIR bulbs. In my opinion the best performing replacement bulb you can get. Given it's not blingtastic blue or purple but it works correctly with the type of headlight housings our Galants came with.

Toshiba no longer produces HIR bulbs. Phillips does. Alot of people say the Phillips are better but the Toshibas seemed to work better for me.

Update, the Phillips actually work better than the Toshibas...turns out I had some headlight alignment issues. Phillips only makes new Gen 3 bulbs for the low beams. Toshiba no longer produces HIR bulbs for the low beams. The high beams will still be Toshiba but they are no longer produced as far as I know.
