grinding when going into gear.

alot of the times when i put my car into first or reverse it will grind, when the clutch is all the way and it is warmed up. it will also sometimes grind while shifting in to random gears but just every once in a while. I have the act 2600 and a fidanza fly wheel so i know its not that. Does any one think its the clutch slave? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Try letting the clutch in for a few more seconds before shifting into reverse or first, that will give some time for the input shaft to slow down. You can also try and do what I used to do, shift into 2nd (or any other gear), and then reverse or first.

Edit* Have you tried bleeding the system yet? Did the symptoms start after you installed the clutch and flywheel? It kind of sounds like bad synchros to me, but I'm no trans expert.

matt,
You maybe will want to adjust your shifter linkage thats what i had to do.Also have to remember you got a 1g short shifter and well when i put mine in a had to do a little adjusting. I asked your brother if he had to mess with the linkage and he said no and well hahah here you are asking why its acting funny..

If the transmission didn't grind before the clutch/flywheel install, or a different shifter install, then the problem lies with linkage adjustment or hydraulic system.

I have the same setup (Fidenza/2600) and have the same problem but my transmission also has 177k miles on it. My problem is bad syncros. Make sure you properly bleed the system. How many miles does your transmission have?

about 60kk to 70kk on transmission and like 10kk and clutch and flywheel

Or a fulcrum ball/fork issue.

Try putting the car into 1st gear with the clutch in, and bringing the revs up high. If the vehicle moves forward with the clutch in, you have a clutch disengagement issue.

I shift into any other gear before first or reverse too :S

I think I've read somewhere it's the syncros, but I can't confirm I just left it for my clutch/flywheel swap :p

Just my $0.02 CAD
