I need to get my car from my parents house to my house. Its about 5 miles. Just wondering if anyone has done this without any problems. I just need to get my car to my house so I can work on it there.

Driveshaft and transfer case are already off the car. Thanks.

No you cannot do that. Unless you can somehow coast the 5 miles. You would probably ruin your center differential.

I think you'll ruin the center diff no matter what. Your best bet since you have no drive shaft is to tow it with a dolly and the front wheels off the ground.

Or put a vce in. You can probably find a used one for less than $50.

Guess I am going to have the car towed. Was trying to save a few bucks. Maybe I can get the whole car back together this weekend.

Yeah, if you have an open center diff and a stock viscous coupling, you will blow up the VC right away (within the first mile) trying to drive the car without the rear connected. The amount of slip the VCE will be trying to stop will heat it up and ruin it FAST.

Tow the car!

This is when having a welded center diff comes in handy: FWD mode. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif

Find someone you know who has AAA for the tow. Alternately, if you know someone with a pickup and hitch, U-Haul has dolly or flatbed car trailers for $40-50 a day. (They'll also rent trucks, but it costs more)

Got the car towed today only cost me 65 bucks. Now I can finally get the car back on the road. Had the car sitting for almost a year.
