So the Story goes like this I bought a brand new U joint and carrier from mitsubishi for the rear section of my drive shaft.I have a Driveshaft shop drive shaft so thats the only peace other then the new carrier for the rear I will be using. Plain and simple it doesn't fit The old one was bad and very hard to move and it clicked when moved I got it out just like any other U joint and the clips were really really tight more then I think I have ever seen befor. I cleaned it all up started to install the new one, but I can only get one clip in for each joint I cant even see the other retaining groove am I missing something did mitsu send me the wrong part or is my drive shaft fd up? I took a couple measurements and the u joint is the same size so am I missing something why is this fighting me so much.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

This is second hand info, but FWIW: Usually they come with different thickness clips to account for variations in the machining of the hub and u joint, so it can be installed tight. Did you buy a mitsu u-joint or aftermarket?

I just got done redoing 2 of the rear sections the factory u-joint shouldve came with 3 different thickness c clips total of 6 clips if you got the recall kit. They should be different colors. The factory service manual says to measure the grove with a feeler gauge and use proper clips based on that. It will also insure the u-joint is centered in the driveline. If it's still all together make sure you mark the whole driveline as to tear it apart and put it back that way. We are fighting a vibration issue from not installing the cup at the end of the shaft in the same spot. I found that a press is the easiest way to take out and install the new joints.

I get all that was said but what I am saying is with the smallest thickness clip installed I cant even see the other groove.

I think I may have to look for a rear section of our drive shafts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bawling.gif

Are you sure the caps of the u-joint are pressed all the way down? Got pics of it?
