  5. Dyno Day with 1649

Hey Dave!I'll PM you my number. We're planning to hit up the Q tonight. I saw you in a white GVR4 on Plaza Blvd like a month ago. Yea, I'll definitely cruise by the dealership. I wanna take in Bearcat to get his AC done! HAHA!
  6. Dyno Day with 1649

On a mustang dynoThe most whp it made was 391. The most torque it made was 403, but they were on different pulls. Consistently, it made mid 480's whp and was always knockin on 400 torque. Still trying to get used to ECMLink and dyno tuning.Mods List: 9:1 JE Pistons Crower rods Ported head...
  7. Dyno Day with 1649

Been MIA from this forum, but I'm still at it with 1649. Just been busy with work and life. Finally got a chance to dyno 1649 and my buddy's 95 Talon Tsi AWD conversion. First time really tuning with ECMLink on a dyno. Learned a whole lot and will post details later. Here's the video we made...
  8. FS: Whiteline Front & Rear Swaybars

It's been MONTHS since I've been here! Good thing I checked! I've been waiting for these!!!! Thanks Garfield!
  9. Passed CA emissions test

This was how my engine bay looked with the exception of a stock air can and snorkel. I really just wanted to see if it will pass the sniffer with all those mods. From now on, I just need to put back the stock intake, piping, intercooler, and fuel regulator (i will be running a stock one from now...
  10. Passed CA emissions test

I'm sure this has been tried and discussed before, but I just wanted to share my experience. I have a federal emissions Galant VR4 in California and I just passed the sniffer test last Friday with the following mods:Build bottom end with: JE 9.0:1 pistons Crower rodsHead: Ported and polished...

  14. E-85

Here you go: clickI run it...and love it!
  15. What suspension???

+2 for all poly bushings with Evo setup. I think it's at the limit of what I would call streetable. It's plenty stiff and sometimes when I hit a nice bump on the freeway, my stomach ends up in my throat! My brother's drift car with some expensive jdm coil-overs is just brain rattling. So I can...
  16. Bimmubishi

Purchased 23 spline t-case. Prompt shipping and packaged well!
  17. b00st33d

Nice guy. Good lookin' out! Offered his extra slip yoke recall kit for a great price shipped. Prompt shipping as well!
  18. Speaking of alternators, how do we make them last longer?

+3 on heat shield. My manifold heat shield is on, but not the O2 housing heat shield. I'm sure without the O2 heat shield the radiant heat is shortening the life of the alternator. I'm planning on wrapping my tubular O2 with heat wrap this weekend. I've killed 2 alternators in two years! Maybe...
  19. Need help deciding on intake routing!?!

Small battery is a great idea. I've been wanting to do it as well, but ended up with just relocating to rear since I had the hardware and cables already from my 1G GSX. Fab work looks pretty good tho!
  20. Track outing with 1649

Looks like you had a blast as well. I wish we only paid $15 to race instead of $30! I might try launching at 5k instead of 5500. I'll try to hit a 1/4 mile track as soon as I'm done fine tuning some things. It's close to where I want it and she's been running strong.
  21. Some update on my car

I hear ya! After 2-3 years of restoring 1649. I've been daily driving it for close to 2 years now. It's great. Some of us old schoolers who started out with a DSM experimented and hacked them to death now appreciate the time and effort it takes to build a quality fast and reliable car.The car...
  22. Track outing with 1649

Last outing I managed an 8.1 at 87 with 1.9 60clickThings I have upgraded/fixed since:- FIC BlueMax 1650cc (...now would rather have 1150cc, but oh well). Was maxing out 720's around 16-18psi on E85. - EVO suspension - Replaced 15 year old blown Koni/Eibach Pro Kit setup - Put back my 17's...
  23. 17" or 18" wheels

I ran both on my car, and I prefer 17's because it gives you a smoother ride. The 18's, I feel are too hard. Unless my old Koni/Eibach's just suck.
  24. ECO & PWR button

I grabbed one of these the last time I took a trip to local yard and I was trying to figure out what to do with it. Now I have some great ideas!
  25. First Tune with Q16 - Wow that is some good stuff.

Great job! On a stock intake too! Nice!
  26. 25psi here I come!!!

I agree, the 1650cc's are overkill for my current setup, but it's what I decided on and I'll just have to work with it. From the math, 1150's would've been perfect for my current setup.I was able to tame the thing a bit. I dropped the fuel pressure from 43psi to 37psi, it's a bit more...
  27. 25psi here I come!!!

The reason I purchased 1650cc was so that I would have enough injector when I go fp3052 or 65. At the moment the car has a fully built motor and it's being fed by a fp18g. I agree, I should have gotten 1150 or 1250, but that 'buy big' syndrome got me. I just got back from tuning and it was a...
  28. Track outing with 1649

Well after 5 years of restoring 1649, I finally had a chance to take her out last night to Race Legal at Qualcomm stadium. Boy was I rusty! It was a red light special for me!I was only able to boost 17-18psi due to the 720's hitting 100% duty on e85, but she did OK...on some 18's!!! Gotta...

  32. Project 1649 *warning, tons of photos*

Quoting 4Grim: What a nice GVR4. Pretty clean setup too, but I liked your previous wheels better than the current ones. Your GVR4 just sits better with a wider offset and some meaty tires.Either or...still a beautiful GVR4Yea, I personally like my Kakimoto's better. The measurements are...
  33. Project 1649 *warning, tons of photos*

Some updates. I've been working on her for the past 4 years and it's finally coming together. After destroying one motor due to Haltech not configured correcty for Crane ignition box and numerous little issues, like not passing smog, and most recently, a failed oil pump due to timing belt too...

  36. Project 1649 *warning, tons of photos*

Ahh...thanks for pointing out the tires. Totally forgot about that. They are the Kumho Ecsta Supra's. I need to check if they are directional. As for the rims and tire combo. I actually have some 17x8 37mm offset for the front and 17x9 37mm offset in the back. I test fitted the rears and they...
  37. Project 1649 *warning, tons of photos*

Thanks for all the comments guys. For anyone who goes through a restoration project like this can tell you that...it's a PITA and hella $$$. The long hours spent cleaning, number of beers consumed, cigs puffed, latex gloves used, parts cleaned, busted knuckles, and curse words expressed...its...
  38. Project 1649 *warning, tons of photos*

Hahaha...you got a good eye there Mike. Well it's a Mazda RX-4. I've had it for almost 9 years now. Haven't touched it yet. That will be another LOOOOONG project.
  39. Project 1649 *warning, tons of photos*

Well she is about 90% done. I still have tons of things to do.built bottom end consists of JE pistons, Crower rods, knife edge crank, ARP hardware, and of course no BSCloser look at the knife edge crank...Fresh from the body shop...Porting head. No flow bench, so...
  40. Project 1649 *warning, tons of photos*

got the front wheels on, rolled the car back and forth to see how the rear sat...It's pretty slammed. I might need to get 235 width tires instead of the 245's that's on there right now. Rims are 17x8 +43 offset.Motor will be stock for now. I do have a built bottom end that's...
  41. Project 1649 *warning, tons of photos*

Well I finally got the GSX subframes on 1649 and test fitted the Volk GTP's. List of completed tasks:- GSX front and rear subframes with ES poly bushings. - 4 bolt lsd rear - 5 lug conversion - no 4ws - no abs - manual rack pinion - welded trailing arm mod - koni yellows with eibach...

  46. New Volk Racing wheels!

sweet rims!!! i have a set of Volk GT-P's 17x8 +43 just waiting to be put in. doing some major suspension work...bushings, tie rods, ball joints, weld trailing arm, 4ws eliminated, 4bolt rear lsd, no abs...whew! fyi, eclipse and galant suspension parts are identical. i just raped my gsx and will...
