Does anybody have info on the following transmission (ID) on my Galant:

W5M33NQBK
WY2979

As I mentioned in another thread, the previous owner mentioned to me something about either the gear was changed, or a different tranny and I'm trying to verify the number.

Thanks,

John R.

Sorry I can't tell you anything from those numbers, but it sounds like it may just be a DSM transmission, which is the same except that the first gear has a higher ratio.

It is from JDM evo 0 galant vr4 and you can read the gear ratio here

click

btw I have that gear box as well..

Is there any other way of verification (documentation)?

I didn't realize there was a -2- in the number; no wonder I couldn't find anything on searches...

Yeah, it does seem to be a normal transmission, according to the number (found on a google search):

Galant Vr-4 Transmission Model Numbers-

W5M33-2-NQBK 1991-92 to 4/92
W5M33-2-NQBM 1992 Galant to 5/92
W5M33-2-NPXV 1991-94 Eclipse AWD
C50PH-EK1420 1991-1992 Switchable JDM Galant
C5JPF-FL8420 Same FWD/RWD switchable (different final drive?)

Also, I found another older post here

Thanks for the info!
