Don't worry Mark, we'll still hate you win or lose.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. J/K

Car looks great as always and I'm sure you'll do just fine in the performance categories. Theres probably a few shitty drivers in the pack.

Loved the interview and shoutout to the best forum. Good luck!

Mark, Most of the cars here are in the same power range as 1051 (stock-450hp) with most of the guys being enthusiasts just like you with other commitments such as family and work life balance. I feel 1051 is a great representation of the VR4 platform and the perfect car to represent the group being as clean and well put together as it is!! The car is the underdog amongst some of the stronger competitors – It will be interesting to see how it fairs in the popularity contest (car show) and performance parts of the contest. I for one will be rooting for 1051!!

Mike, is one of the newer (young guys) here – we need to give him some slack and mentor him at times. We (VR4 owners) need new guys like him – fresh blood with tons of enthusiasm for this platform !! By posting on multiple sites & facebook he’s bringing attention back to vr4s. He is also rebuilding what once was a less than stellar example of a VR4 to what is now a real nice example. So what if he takes pictures of every little part and spends a ton of money on his car – at one point in time when 1051 was being built I’m sure you did the same! He’s learning on this platform –just like many of us did including you. What I’m saying is – give the guy some slack you and him aren’t much different you both share a passion for these cars! He will learn as you did and perhaps be as instrumental in giving advice to others in the future.

Good luck with the competition!! I’m sure you will do fine !!

Mark, the fact your car got in the competition is a huge accomplishment! especially compared to the caliber of cars they are accepting. Win or lose, I think the major accomplishment was this magazine accepting you into the competition. Seeing the vr4 in action and possibly running down a few higher end cars is just the cherry on top /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif

Good luck!!!

I understand that most guys probably are like me with lives outside of the car. I just wanted to point out that it isn't priority number one.

Regarding Mike...most everything I say is just good natured sh*t-giving for pic whoring or strange choices in modding. It's the way I am in person and the way most of my friends are. We all give each other sh*t for everything. Ask Brian, Karter, or Spencer . Some people like to get all dramatic about it and it turns into a shitshow though. I'm definitely not the harshest one in his threads and a lot of it I feel is just tough love. In person, I'm sure we could all hug it out and get along, so I try not to take it all so srsly on the 'net.

Thanks for the kind words about the car. I'm both excited and nervous for the weekend. Hoping I do well!

Just put the car on the trailer (once unloaded at the track, I have to drive it to all the events from there on). Pacific Raceways bound! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Quoting turbowop:
And I think that just the fact that a GVR4 was chosen for the competition is pretty good for the community, regardless of how I do.

I agree a 100%. Even if you come in dead last (doubtful) your car is a great representation of a GVR4. It's truly a well done car with a good amount of power and I'm glad they picked you for this competition.

Good luck Sir.

So I only got four passes tonight. First pass was botched by a bogged launch. Next pass I spun horribly coming out of the hole. Third and fourth were decent. I was also messing with the tune quite a bit between passes. Last pass ended up being a 12.00 @ 121.22. I was spinning out of the hole which resulted in a slow 1-2 shift. That's the best I could muster. It's the the curse of the f***ing 12's. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif The next faster guy was faster by enough that I'd have to bring my E.T. down to mid 11's compete, and that just wasn't going to happen tonight.

The R34 is ridiculous. It ran something like a 10.7 @ 139 by the end of the night, and it's down on power as apparently, they had to retune because they think the fuel they got is only e70 and they normally run the car on e85. The car is super nice. Also, the R35 was running low 11's @ 127. The FDrx7 with the Corvette motor was running mid 11's @ 125ish I think. All the competitors are cool and fun to hang out with and talk cars.

Dyno comp, build quality, and carshow tomorrow! As well as taking some hot chick for a ride to test ride quality amongst other things. This is pretty fun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

My car next to the R34. I thought that was kind of cool since you don't see one of those very often...

Awesome Mark - glad you are having a good time!

You got four passes in and didn't break anything - WIN in my book! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Your MPH indicates you've got a bit more ET in there.

Keep on keeping on and have a great time.

Good luck on the rest of it Mark! I went 11.8 @121 (still not a great E.T. for the mph) so if you would have had better track conditions and a little luck you could have been down in the 11.5-11.6 range. Still not to shabby for an old brick shaped grocery getter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
