power steering question...

So a couple of weeks ago my power steering belt broke. I had to drive around for like a week without power steering until I had time to put a new belt on. So I got a new belt from my buddy and after I put it on I noticed my power steering wheel was a lot more easy to turn. Yeah I know I thought it was just my imagination playing tricks on me after not having any power steering for like a week. But its not my imagination, the steering is not the same like it was before my belt broke. Especially on the highway, before it felt like there was some resistance, I know some cars have that in their steering to keep from over correcting if you lose control or whatever.

Anyone know what the hell I'm talking about?

So you're saying that the steering wheel doesn't offer as much resistance as it did before the belt broke? The only thing I can think of is that the belt may have been slipping before and now that it's new and happy the system is working optimally and you're not used to it.
