muffler suggestions?

Well the Galant is pretty damn loud, a full three inches to the exit in the rear. I need to have a muffler welded on, something thats not loud and preferably dual tips / stock looking.

Where would I find this? I don't like to resort to ebay for parts for this car, but I would buy one off ebay before I go and buy some APC garbage from pepboys/autozone/advanced for triple the price.

I''ve been reading that the dynomax super turbo mufflers are pretty quiet. I ran into some "twin loop" mufflers I don't really see the need for that huge hunk of metal.

I got one of these and I love it.

I got a megan 3" dp from Punishment Racing, then went to a local muffler shop and paid 200 for a catback exhaust no cats, a resonator, and the Borla, all in 3" piping. So I think I got a good deal /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This one is cheaper looks the same

I had almost this same muffler on my Laser but with a 2.5 inlet and it was pretty quiet.

I had a magnaflow from advance 18 inch can 6 inches in dia. Really quiet and had no resonators, cats etc. Picked it up for like 75 dollars and found a rebate online so I ended up paying 25 for it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Didn't you get the Borla TurboXL Muffler after my recommendation? I've had that exact muffler for 3 years except summit racing has a typo, it says the outlets are 2x 2.25 inches. If you go to the Borla website, the outlets are actually 2x 2.5 inches (I measured mine).

It's a little costly, but one of the best sounding mufflers I've heard on a DSM/VR4. Also, I have a 3" dynomax bullet muffler inline acting as a resonator where the cat usually sits.

I am also in the market for a new muffler soon.I've been using the apexi n1 for 8 years now and I love it but its just too loud. Cops are assholes here and just need something that doesn't draw so much attention

I got this and I love it. Looks great, and it's very quiet:

Vibrant 1147. 3" in, 3" out slash cut.

Car has a full 3" turboback and is quite quiet. Much quieter than my 1g with a 3" Buschur with a resonator.

I have the magnaflow muffler, very quiet with a full 3 in and no cat, have not even chirped the noise police, hell the wastegate opening is louder, at WOT its very loud but a deep tone like if its saying its got some balls and ready to spit fire, its not annoing as the coffee can mufflers you hear all the time

I plan on changing to this muffler in the future. Stealth, fills up the huge opening & reasonably quiet.

I run the dual tip version 3"inlet x 3" dual outlet Vibrant part#1149. Not too loud (3" down and out with Cat) and definitely a good stock appearing/sleeper look, I like it.

Now *that* I like. I've always enjoyed the Magnaflows, but lately I've been thinking about mufflers that benefit performance, while preserving the stock/incognito appearance of the cars. This is exactly what I've envisioned. Will look into this for sure.

Thanks!

if you got a loud muffler you can always put one or even two exhaust resonators.

I have a 3in and out Edlebrock turbo muffler that Extreme Motorsports put on. I then had some Vibrant stainless twin tips on that.

To be cheaper I'd just get that muffler that raptorreed suggested since its everything in one. Twin round tips always look good and low key but you still get that full performance without being obvious. Just dont get those mufflers that go 1 into 2 and are made for you to have pipes coming out of them but people just leave that as the tip. That looks like junk. The spacing is like 6 inches apart and its obvious its not a tip. The vibrant tips are close and look right.

I also have two 3 1/2" vibrant race mufflers inline towards the middle of the exhaust to help keep it extra quiet basically two resonators

I have an N1 muffler on mine, full 3" with 2 res, no cat. Depending on how it sounds I might replace it with the Vibrant DTM eventualy, but the one I have is VERY streight thru
