I know this is more of a question for the CSM guys. But I always start here.
I got a 89 colt that im using 1630 as a parts car to make it beefier. Im looking to swap over the hubs and brakes along with suspension to the colt. I imagine I would have to use axles and what nots from the rear of a FWD galant bc the colt is also FWD. Im pretty sure the axles are different sizes so I figure id have to swap those, which shouldnt be hard on the back.

So to sum it up, I want to use as many vr4 parts as possible, that I can get to work on a colt. colt/ csm guys chime in. or anyone in the know.

Pretty sure that the Galant has a wider stance than a CSM. Therefore swapping axles would also include adding fender flares so the wheels don't stick out.

I have a 1.5L Colt that has a bit of plans ahead for it.
One of them being upgraded brakes.

There's a few possiblities out there but I have yet to hear about any upgrades from the Galant's fitting.

Check out 4g61t.org if you want to know a little more.

Galant stuff won't work, it won't bolt right on at least without some custom fab work. For one the rear stub axles on the fwd Galants are the same size as the 1g DSM's. They are larger than the stub axles on the csm's. In other words the bearing is too big for the axle.

If the fwd galant had rear discs (like the galant GS) the mounting points for the brake calipers are made onto the rear axle beam. These brackets actually bolt onto the csm's with 4 bolts.

You could drop the complete rear axle from the fwd galant and try to make it fit the csm, not that easy for sure.

Honestly, your best bet would be to find someone parting a colt/mirage turbo or doing an awd swap and buy their rear disc parts for a bolt on deal. It will be much easier and the parts won't be too expensive.
