Combo switch, interchangeable with DSM 1G T/E/L??

As the title states, my combo switch (the side with the light controls, turn signals, etc) took a poo on me, and Im able to find a 1g replacement part, but not a GVR4 unit. Anyone know if theyre interchangeable or not??

It is but it isnt. The dsm combi switch is physically da same. It'll bolt up and plug right in. However, the pins in the connector are not the same.

can it perhaps be repinned, probably on teh car harness side? Most harnesses on these are easy enough to repin

Im sure that's an option, just a matter of finding a pinout diagram. Id bet more than likely it wouldnt be as simple as matching wire colors, being as its prob your typical male/female type plug with the female side being the switch side and therefore no wiring.... I'm googling the piss out of it as we speak!

Right, little update:

Went to the shop, started flicking through the Mitchell service manual for '91 and found a few things that raised my eyebrows a bit.

According to the manual, the switches and plugs are identical, the wiring is what's different. The GVR4 plug uses maybe 1/2 or 2/3 of the slots on the plug, whereas the TEL unit uses mostly ALL of them. I imagine it has a lot to do with the flip-up lights on the TEL for 90-91. Also, the diagrams in the book showed continuity tests, and their respective terminals for tesing the switch and its wiring. The pinouts are so different its insane. For instance, to check the switch on a GVR4, you simply check for continuity between pins 3 and 12, then 3, 12, and 16 (with switch in the headlight "on" position). For the TEL's, you measure between terminal 6 and about 7-8 other terminals (with switch in "on" position).

Long story short, could you re-pin a TEL switch? Sure. It'd simply be very time consuming, given the difference in the number of wires/etc.
