am i crazy? 1g radio bezel in a vr4?

ok, i bought parts off a memberthe other day, and now just got the package with one of the items being a radio bezel. i told him i needed one for a 91 vr4. today, i went to put it in the car and it does not even come close to fitting. so then i tried it in my 1g talon. it fit like a glove.
i have been aruging back and forth with this guy, and he is telling me it is universal, and that he has a 1g bezel right in his car. but looks nothing like what he sent me.
am i crazy? or does it fit. i , for the life of me cannot get it to work, and i do not want to hack anything on this car to fit.
it is not the price, as more the prinsiple, as i bought something else that was told was ready to go, yet now that i got it here, see that it is missing fittings for it.

any input guys?

totally different IIRC, 1G is bigger for one.
