    Make sure you don't have any air pockets in your coolant. I know it sounds crazy but... it can mess with your idle.

    I wasn't too worried about the coating. My main concern is thinning a surface that hot exhaust gases travel across. I seem to recall an O2 housing that was open all the way too... but maybe I'm just thinking of the 5 bolt O2 housing.

    Sounds more like an idle air issue. Your computer has a table based on coolant temp for adjusting idle air. If the BIS is opened up too far the ecu tries to compensate by closing the isc. If it's way out of the range of what the ecu can compensate for it usually surges back and forth wildly...

That was the only way it would clear the turbo, intercooler piping etc. It clears the hood by about 1/2" (it's a cf hood... I don't know if the underneath of it is the same as stock).
