  1. radiator fan wont shut off

Thank you for the schematics. Unfortunately. the fan wiring has been the same since i brought the car, i have no idea how the previous owner wired it up. I took a picture of the connector with the splices, maybe it will require me removing it all and rewiring it from scratch. i dont know. But i...
  2. radiator fan wont shut off

interesting.. thank you. This is why i appeal to this group, because there are people who know every in and out of these cars.Ill check it when the snow melts.
  3. radiator fan wont shut off

while your point is valid. The wiring configurations hasn't changed from when it operated properly to now. But thank you.
  4. radiator fan wont shut off

As soon as power is applied from the battery... my radiator fan comes on and wont shut off. I have a turbo timer and the fan is rewired to stay on, as long as the ignition is in the on position. but once the turbo timer counts down, and the car is shut down its supposed to be off.It used to...
  5. wont crank instead activates fuel pump only.

All outstanding information, which lead to the successful resolution. I had got 2 wires, both black and yellow mixed up, and 2 of the connectors, both the same shape mixed up. I think it may have hosed my turbo timer in the process. but the car runs and after a thorough warm-up it ran smoothly...
  6. wont crank instead activates fuel pump only.

1990 GSXT has a 91 VR4 motor. after a motor rebuild, put everything back together, seems like I'm maybe missing a ground cable off of the starter to the block, but i cannot find it laying around so its possible i'm imagining that.I put the key in, everything seems to function OK, i put the key...
  7. Blown head gasket?

Do the compression check. Its easy and will tell you 100% if your head gasket is blown.
  8. WTB: 14b

i'm pretty sure i have one in the shop, if its the one i think, it blew an exhaust side gasket. It got pulled and sat on the shelf. No vane damage or anything else. Ill check and get back with you.
  9. WTB: component of Oil pump housing / front cover.

yes it is off a bolt, i would love to take a good housing off your hands, let me know what you want for one with shipping to 74003 if you would.Thank you! Chris
  10. WTB: component of Oil pump housing / front cover.

really need this piece, its holding up my rebuild, surely someone has a toasted motor which has this in it that's still good?
  11. WTB: component of Oil pump housing / front cover.

I don't know exactly what its called, but its part of the front cover, and the oil pickup tube attaches to it. The balance shaft runs through it. I put the eliminator kit in it a few years ago, i'm putting the shafts back in, and found the stub shaft tore up the housing. below are pictures of...
  12. FS: #800/2000 Full Part Out

I never got a message or reply?I'm needing to find Balance shafts and the associated components, and a complete Air Conditioning system, ideally known good. Thanks, Shipping to 74003. Chris
  13. WTB: Balance Shaft components, AC system

I'm needing the complete Balance shaft components minus the belt and bearings, and a complete air conditioning system, please include an estimated shipping quote.Thank you Chris.
  14. FS: #800/2000 Full Part Out

balance shafts and the associated components. I previously removed them and i'm pretty sure i threw all that stuff away. Thanks, Shipping to 74003. Chris
  15. galant with 4g67

umm you have idle surge, because the computer isn't reading any voltage from the throttle position sensor, that you don't have. Those components are kind of important. Sounds to me like an April foolI would suggest, instead of toking the water pipe.. you replace it.
  16. Why do you love this car?

I brought my galant GSX from california for $200 the previous owners tried to convert it to a VR4 but failed, for stupid reasons. I've spent a ton of cash in it. It has enough blood in it to be related to me. But, both my children refuse to let me consider selling it, it is referred to as "The...
  17. 20 yr old seized brake and clutch hose flare nut fittings

I ran into the exact same problem, rear brake... I soaked it with PB blaster for like 2 days. kept on spraying it. It eventually came loose. but, perseverance, and a gentle hand, to not round the edges off.good luck! Just keep soaking it, and get some good fitting wrenches. you dont want slack.
  18. ARGH! Big oil leak! Anyone who has had the timing belt covers off?

you might check your low oil level sensor, its right next to the oil filter. Mine came undone, and blew out 5qts of oil in no time. coated the entire underside of my car.just a thought.
  19. MPI / ECU help -- updated! MPI fire

i would think it is safe to say, that if all the pins (or most of them) are reading grounded, then the relay is fused, and will need to be replaced. If i get time tomorrow, ill look over the various schematics, and see if i can come up with anything to help out.do you have any other signs or...
  20. TPS wire into the cabin.

You have to check resistance, with the power off. because otherwise you will fry stuff. If you do some searching you can test to see what the readings should be on the sensor, and at the other end of the harness, there shouldn't be a huge difference. If you are noticing a massive difference from...
  21. Rare? Black ISC Motor tested fine but dead?

they were designed to do that from the box. If you search around, you will find threads that explain why. I actually threw a good ISC away, because i thought it was blown. But i think anything under 44 ohms, is perfectly fine.
  22. New to the forum and dyno tuned car today

very sick! i wish i could get my car running that good!
  23. wiring behind foglight switch.

awesome, i'm glad you got it figured out!! Time to do the, i fixed one dance..lol
  24. wiring behind foglight switch.

i'm editing this post... i was wrong, i followed the wrong line, the next thing is a #7 15a fuse, in the fuse box, so check all of those and see if any are blown. that wire is fed directly (according to the wire diagram) from the headlight wiring. So look for blown or missing fuses.
  25. Starter Issue / No Start

check to make sure the starter wire is in good shape, if its not getting enough power to the solenoid, the starter wont have the power to turn the flywheel, and it'll just click and grind. It might be worth hooking up a wire to it, and running it to a multimeter to make sure you getting enough...
  26. wiring behind foglight switch.

i would imagine the how too is saying to tap those wires, because they are the signal wires. In so much as they don't have voltage, until the switch is positioned to allow voltage to them. But i havent read the how too, so ill check that here in a bit. As far as voltage you should be seeing, i...
  27. wiring behind foglight switch.

just a quick addition, use the multimeter to check the top of the fuses (assuming your referring to the blade type fuse) in the fuse box, if you have power on both sides of the fuse, then you know the problem is further down the circuit towards the fog lights.
  28. wiring behind foglight switch.

it depends on how you want to approach it. You did say that neither foglight was working right? i would start with the items i suggested, check for power first, just make sure the car is on (doesnt have to be running, disconnect the harness connector you want to check first, and check for vDC...
  29. wiring behind foglight switch.

First, I would unplug your fog lights, and find out how, if any condition you have voltage at the lights, if neither work, you need to work up the system, and find the common elements, such as the switch and relay, with that in mind, here is where you could start, i would start by checking that...
  30. wiring behind foglight switch.

i think there is a rule about bumping your own post so quickly, im sure the admins will let you know, ill look and see if i can find the wiring harness that you are looking for. Stand by...
  31. Smoke from dash, then car dies, now won't start, help!

I'm not 100% sure on the differences, I believe they are pretty much the same, i could put up the wiring diagrams if you want.
  32. Smoke from dash, then car dies, now won't start, help!

you need to get some denatured alcohol, and a small paint brush, cut the bristles in half, and use it to clean away as much of that burnt stuff as you can. it might be repairable, if you can de-solder the old components, and the board itself isn't damaged to bad. It might be possible to use wire...
  33. Smoke from dash, then car dies, now won't start, help!

I traced out all the wires connected to the starter relay back, and it touches the MPI relay, CAS sensor, o2 sensor, and there is a direct ground along the way. If one of those components has failed, it will interrupt the path of current to the starter relay. I can take the wiring down further...
  34. Smoke from dash, then car dies, now won't start, help!

Weird i know, but check the white wire from the O2 sensor. i had it burn up almost completely, and the car wouldn't start. If that isnt it, your going to have to check a lot of wire. If you can be more specific about what works and what doesn't, i would be happy to pull up the schematics and...
  35. Detonation Signal wire question...

I have a question about a different harness connector. For 90 GSX cars running the 91-94 ECU, you swap pin 6 and pin 14. on the GSX pin 6, is the idle closed switch, but pin 14 is empty. So you simply move pin 6, into the slot for pin 14, however on the 91 VR4, pin 6 is an airflow sensor wire...
  36. Zeitronix 02 sensor install

thank you for posting those by the way, it made my life a lot easier while wiring mine up, i figured i should just go ahead and do it, while i was rebuilding the harness connectors.
  37. Detonation Signal wire question...

Here is a picture with the completed ECU side connector for the 24 pin connector. All i have to do now is wire up the vehicle side connector, and then go try to connect all the wires up... fun fun.
  38. Detonation Signal wire question...

you know i really wanted to grab some from my avionics shop, and i thought about getting them online, but i dont have the proper crimping tools, to put the connectors on the wires, and then the insertion tool, to put them into the cannon plug (thats the military term for the circle connectors)...
  39. Detonation Signal wire question...

Thats my suspicion as well, so i of course went with the board posted diagram, and put that wire in. Ill include pictures of the harness connectors im building... The reason for it, was the amount of splicing that was done by previous owners, caused serious connection issues, and severely...
  40. Detonation Signal wire question...

look at pin 9, it shows detonation sensor (knock sensor)below is the image from the wiring diagrams i have, this is the 91 galant turbo, now look at pin 9 on this diagram.
  41. Detonation Signal wire question...

I'm rebuilding my ECU harness connector, i checked the Dealer network wiring harness, and it lists nothing for pin 9 on the large ECU connector. However when i check other sites online, it lists the Detonation signal. I have a 91 ECU, i'm not sure if its the VR4 or a Eclipse turbo. but i know...
  42. Putting new rings in a motor.

i think it has to be said, that horribly half assed, if you have a clue what you are doing at all, is still a lot better, than a complete hack job, done to the best of an idiots ability.... :P for examples, please come view the handiwork done by the previous owner's of my car.... so with...
  43. Putting new rings in a motor.

I personally haven't done that, but i would think, as long as the cylinder walls were still in good shape, and there wasn't the step at the top of the cylinder, where the walls are worn, you'd probably be OK, I would prepare to bore it out, and put new pistons in it, just in case though, hope...
  44. power spark and fuel but no start?

did you ever check compression, timing, did you make sure the cams are aligned correctly. My guess is, that the timing is way off... because your firing, out the intake valve, and blowing off the throttle body pipe right, so that valve is open, when it should be closed, so, either ignition...
  45. wheel bearings

i had no problems getting mine from my local oreilly's.i always have them check to see what other year parts are the same, so i know for future if something isnt available, that i can grab stuff from another year
  46. Zeitronix 02 sensor install

you know.. lol i haven't even wired mine up yet, i got the sensor installed, and the wires pulled, but i took one more look at my ECU pins, and was disgusted at the previous owners wiring job... so i took it all apart, and there it sits...lol.ill try to get some work done on it today, and tell...
  47. i wonder

so thats what im feeling in the car, i thought it was the suction power of the small black hole under the hood, literally sucking the money first from my wallet, and then my bank account.
  48. After 3 years Home sweet home! NEW PICS 07/08/11

That car looks outstanding, great job on it, i would love to get my car like that one day.
  49. Let's talk FIAV and ISC block off plates!

Your welcome, i noticed a slight difference, i actually got a new throttle body as well, and now i have 2 orings. I found out afterwards, that mine actually had no o-ring. lolanyway, good luck!!
  50. Lead Foot mpgs

yea i get like 8mpg if i drive it like i stole it. I try to get 200 miles per tank though, driving it conservatively. Some days it happens, others it doesn't.
