  1. Anyone attempt removing frost plug from driveshaft yoke

Seeing that i am the guy that made that guide and that yoke has been on my car for many years with zero leaks I would say it is!
  2. Output shaft that goes from AWD transmission to transfer case

The auto trans output shaft normally has a clip on the end the same as the passenger side axle on a manual car. Mine is long gone and I don’t have any issues!
  3. Radiator Fan Configuration Change

Mark, the fact that we both knew that proves just how old we both are now!
  4. Radiator Fan Configuration Change

I recall that there is a wire running to a temp sensor on the rear of the thermostat housing that will turn the fans on permanently if you ground it?
  5. 1988 VR4 Parts suppliers

Check out megazip as well. I’ve bought from them a few times with no issues.
  6. Cabin noise/rattle

Is this Mo’s car? If so you will have nothing mechanical to do to it. He is pretty anal when it comes to upkeep on his cars!
  7. JDM Galant VR4 Chime

There is a screw on the back of the cluster with a wire that you need to remove. The pic in JDM Chime this link will work if you click it!
  8. Ecm Link

Looks like a Keydiver chip. As Mark said just pull it and replace with ecmlink.
  9. Power steering delete rear subframe rack question.

I think that you will find that none of the works rally cars had 4WS fitted. Fuel will be able to 100% confirm this. It is usually removed because it is prone to leaking as the cars age and it is easier to just remove the whole thing. I removed mine almost 10 years ago after it leaked badly and...
  10. Old newbie

Wow, haven’t seen that name in a while! Welcome back Mike. If you message Nathan I’m sure he would work something out for you. Try looking for him on Facebook too. A complete 5 lug swap just sold in Brisbane I think 😩
  11. is this a vr4 4g63t?

Yep, as per above posts this is from a RVR sports gear auto.
  12. Timing belt gear markings

Check this out too. Vfaq timing belt change
  13. Timing belt gear markings

The timing marks on the cam gears should line up close to the top of the head. Give it a couple more turns to see if they end up ok. The oil pump timing mark isn't lined up either. I normally lie a metal ruler along the head between the gear with the valve cover off of course. You will have...
  14. big power help with 565

I hope you made the appropriate turbo sounds whilst "test driving" it for that last pic
  15. car will only run for 4 seconds and caps are good

It's the temp sensor on the front of the housing. It has 2 pins.
  16. car will only run for 4 seconds and caps are good

Also check the coolant temp sensor that the ecu uses. If it's dead it will default to a temp in the negatives and the Ecu will over fuel the motor causing it to start then stall.
  17. New Owner of 1837/2000

    Looks like I got lucky!
  18. New Owner of 1837/2000

Quoting GSTwithPSI: The adapter plate bolt holes do not line up with the bolt holes on the pinion flange for the third section of the factory driveshaft closest to differential. I looked on DSS's website, and the adapter I received is clearly different from the one pictured for the Galant/DSM...
  19. How about some updates???

Quoting GSTwithPSI:f*** it, I guess we'll have new a 5 car listAwesome! Only way i'll get into the top 5 anytime soon!
  20. To Auto or not to Auto (GVR4). That is the question...

Good choice Barry! You staying manual gives me more of a chance at having the fastest VR4 in Australia with my auto setup and stock block until you see the light
  21. 729/2000

How did you get a stock vr4 intake manifold to fit a Evo head?
  22. subframe question

Did you even bother to search mate? This took me 2 seconds to find... click
  23. clutch engagement problems

They usually know their stuff. If you are on Facebook join the brisbanevr4 group. There is a few guys near you. I'm out past Willowbank otherwise I'd check it out myself.

Where in Brisbane are you and who did the machining?
  25. trans/diff dumb question

Just put the LSD centre into your 3 bolt pumpkin and call it a day. It's not rocket science
  26. What can it be? I already changed the Driveshaft

    Sway bar end links.
  27. quest for low 11s

No idea sorry Ryan. Car has never seen a dyno
  28. quest for low 11s

Should be more than enough for easy 11's. I ran 11.4 on a stock bottom end and a PTE 50 trim in a mitsubishi housing @ 28psi or so. Only had 1450's and E85 with BC 272 cams. Pretty much stock weight too.
  29. what is that? exterior/interior help

The drivers door trim looks like it's been re painted before, it's a different colour to the rest of the car. I vote for bad paint prep.
  30. RHD JDM Galant VR4's - AMA

Quoting MontuMotors: Maybe the rear shoulder strap seat belt started in the later years. We've imported 2 1988 Galants and both have lap straps, which appear to be very factory. Is there a hole in the trim around the rear quarter glass? There will be if it was supposed to have a full belt...
  31. Bulfab still around?

Vassil got mine to me in Australia within 2 weeks of me paying for it. Nice hefty looking piece and it should give decent clearance for my new giant turbo setup
  32. T3 manifold options?

I ran an ERL on mine with a pte6262 and it JUST cleared the alloy radiator. There is NO WAY to run a rear mounted fan though so if you still have aircon it's a no go.
  33. GSX_TC's Galant VR4 Build Thread #550/2000 (Samara)

RHD is easy... It's LHD that's tricky
  34. WTB: 1G upper thermostat housing *Found*

Thanks mate but John has me covered!
  35. WTB: 1G upper thermostat housing *Found*

Not down here unfortunately. And it's the thermostat housing with the radiator cap on it that I need. John (Toybreaker) is sourcing a few for me so I'll have spares for other guys here 👍 Thanks for the suggestion though!
  36. WTB: 1G upper thermostat housing *Found*

John is having a look for one as well. I'll let you know if he doesn't find it. Thanks for the offer! Much appreciated.Tim
  37. WTB: 1G upper thermostat housing *Found*

Hi guys, I need a upper thermostat housing to match my new Scirocco radiator setup.Needs to be shipped to Australia.
  38. GSX_TC's Galant VR4 Build Thread #550/2000 (Samara)

  44. SOLD!

Bump, post edited to show sold items.
  45. Sized top end?

You haven't put the crank spacer on backwards have you? It looks like I can see a ghost image of the balance shaft sprocket on the front of the spacer.
  46. SOLD!

White fuel door Sold to Justin as long as he sends some cash my way!Note: there was someone else that said he wanted the white door but I gave hime a week to reply or pay and nothing happened. Cash talks after that timeframe!
  47. SOLD!

    Bump it!
  48. FS: JDM Parts

If they trim the bar a tiny bit on the inside they should be able to get it fit. It's only the top that's the issue. I wouldn't have an issue doing it as you can't see it once trimmed anyway Ryan.
  49. FS: JDM Parts

Those mudflaps look like the same ones that I have. Mine are from a JDM MX Galant and won't fit the VR4 style rear bar without some cutting at the top of either the mud flap or the bar itself.
  50. SOLD!

    Badge sold pending payment.
