A 660 or 720 chip in the VPC will throw your timing way out of whack. Its no different than pulling the same amount of fuel with an SAFC since all the chip in the VPC is doing is modifying the Hz output into the ECU. You're better off keeping the 550 or 450 chip in the VPC and getting a KD chip for the ECU. He can even make a VPC specific chip that will eliminate the need for the VPC harness which is often the cause of problems.

John, how is the harness eliminated? Just curious 'cause I can't think of how else the VPC controller can interphase with the ECU.
 

The VPC actually only needs connections to a few of the ECU wires, like TPS, Karman Hz, power, and a tach signal, if I recall. So, even if you don't have an HKS harness its pretty easy to just tap into the wires you need. As John said, my chip locks the BARO and IAT values in the code, so the resistors that are part of the harness aren't needed either.
There never was a 720cc VPC chip to my knowledge, only a 660cc chip that was actually a 550 chip that Buschur hacked for race only. It removes a TON of airflow, like 35% or more, which is why for street use I recommend a 550 chip, and remove the rest of the fuel in the ECU.

If you're going to run an ECU chip, is there really a point to having the VPC?

I never knew that u could run it without the complete harness. Could u find out for sure if those are the only connections u need to hook up? Also i have seen alot of people run them without the IAT, is that really necessary? i know the speed density system usually needs the IAT but is their a exception for the VPC?

I know, I'm just saying it seems like a ton of effort to get rid of a MAF. Especially on a 6xx or even 7xx injector'd car. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
