Timing belt damage

So I was replacing the valve cover gasket and I found this damage on the timing belt, I already replace it but it there is signs of damage on the new belt, what it could be?

Incorrect bolt in the oil pan.

^^ This almost for sure.

On mine the "shorty" bolts don't have a Philips/Plus slot in the head. I use three short bolts just in case.
