So is this what phantom knock looks like?

I'm getting knock CEL's at half to nearly-full throttle when my car starts to build boost around 3800rpms (20g turbo). The thing is, if I'm at WOT, I get no knock at all. I can't imagine this is just "how it is", but maybe?

All the time and I think somewhere in the ballpark of 40 counts of knock. It might be more, but I have to confess that I'm about to leave the country for a while, so I haven't hooked up my laptop and gotten logs. I do have the DSMLink controlling the stock boost gauge, so the CEL comes on to indicate I've got more then 5deg of timing being pulled for knock, and the stock gauge lights up 4-5 LED's. If memory serves, each LED is like 7 or 9 counts of knock, so it's not trivial.

If you get a chance do a log and go into the timing table and see if you can change it in the trouble rpms.

I had a similar issue where it ended up being that.

Here is a demo of using the timing table ecmlink demo

Easiest way to see if it's true knock is to throw in some high octane fuel like racegas and see if it persists.

If it does, use ECMlink to adjust when the ECU uses knock based feedback to make corrections.

if you find it's phantom knock, check your knock sensor for leakage and get a new one if you can. Also before I installed my 3g lifters I had way more phantom knock.

Thanks, guys. I'm out of the country for a while now, but I'll check on all of this when I get home.

You're the best!
