Replacing relays with newer style relays. IE: solid state.

One of my friends replaced some of the relays on his Evo X. They have some issue with the fuel pump relays blowing and killin the engines. This brought up a discussion on replacing the relays on my car with newer style relay. Has anyone done this? Is it possible to do using the factory connectors? I'm going to look into this alot more once I get back from Washington.

over the years I have collected a number of the solid state relays & some do fit some will require a new socket. Honestly, I don't find that they are any more reliable the the standard type & can make it more difficult to diag an intermitant issue. not lots more difficult but...
