Here's a short clip from a 15+ Lap Session @ Putnam Park Road Course. This was my first time at this track so I was still learning the car and the line. I am green to road course/HPDE events but it has been a complete blast to beat up on modern sports cars (Corvettes, BMWs, Subarus, Miatas, etc.) with the grocery-getter.

I like that track. That BMW needs to grow a pair. You say you're green, and you're really eating up all his straight line advantage in cornering speed. I get it, don't want to wad up your $70k creamsicle but c'mon!! Plus plenty of run off at that track although grass doesn't do much to scrub speed. What is that car equipped with as far as suspension, alignment, brakes?

Dan,

Great video!! This is the way these cars are intended to be used - road raced, drag raced !! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/applause.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/applause.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/applause.gif

Awesome video! Every corner it looked like you gained on the M3. I like the camera angle and that track is cool but its so flat compared to the tracks around here.

Very nice.

I wish I had the cash to build and race a car. I've driven on track twice and both times were a TON of fun.

After doing a little research, it turns out that was a BMW E92 M3 Lime Rock Park Edition. $71,000 sticker price! I can only imagine what that would be like to own and track a car like that... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worthy.gif" alt="" />

The heritage of one of America’s most storied racetracks is now masterfully embodied in the all-new M3 Coupe Lime Rock Park Edition. Now is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own one of only 200 limited edition models produced by BMW.

The signature M 6-speed manual transmission and M V8 crank out 8,300 RPM and 414 horses through a performance exhaust system, which make this the most aggressive M3 to date. And with a 0-60 time of only 4.5 seconds,1 the Fire Orange exterior, carbon fiber body kit, and 19-inch ZCP Competition Package wheels will turn heads as quickly as they turn corners.

Inside, M detailing and a custom plaque denoting the production number of each vehicle complete the exclusivity of this highly anticipated, and truly one-of-a-kind street legal racecar.

It is nice but your car looks pretty good too! I wonder if the M3 will still look as good and perform as well as the VR4 in another 21 years time?

^^ plenty of 1988 first gen M3 s still around and racing - more so than our beloved gvr4s. First gen M3 s are holding there values better too 20k plus for a stocker- modified racing M3 s are fetching even more- with bare shells 5k and up.

Cool to see a vr4 mixing it up with some of these other cool cars !

Galant vr4 was around 22k new in 91 and 92. M3s went for 38-40k new in 88up. So they roughly cost double when new. So yeah, they should be worth double today. So a nice clean mint VR4 goes for over 10k, and M3s are sitting around 20-30k. But, a clean 1st Gen M3 is super desirable, but out of my budget and probably harder to find considering we only got 5k over 7 years. And honestly, over hype'd right now and the price is following the hype.

So badass man! Please post pictures without the water mark if you can, they are so badass I want to have a new desktop background!

I was also curious on the suspension set up on your car! Either way great job!

Ok. I literally live 20 minutes from pprc. Do i need a rollcage, and whatd you pay for the day? My wife says i already drive like theres no such thing as police, but i'd love to be 2nd place to another vr4... and have photos like these.

Here are the two clubs I run the daily Galant:

http://www.1010thsmotorsports.com/
and
http://nasagreatlakes.com/

Both events run about $200-350 for 1-2 days with roughly 2-3 hours of seat time each day. No cage necessary but you do need an SA2005/10 helmet and a good set of brake/brake pads.

I would love to see a few more Galant VR-4's out there to dominate the field. Honestly, one 20 minute session of road course time trial/HPDE is more fun than a whole decade of drag racing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif
