So engin was just rebuilt and assembled.

I was turning my engine by hand and noticed some metal showed on the top of the Pistons. Its ferrous as i removed
It with a magnet. Now I'm worried. What should I do?
Mls mmc head gaskets arn't cheep, but neither are new engines.

was the block cleaned before it was assembled? that is a very important step. and I don't mean just wiped down. I mean small brushes, cleaner and hrs of elbow grease to clean it properly.

If you found that much on top of the piston, how much more has creeped into places you can not see?

Like on top of the ring, between the piston and cyl wall?

If in doubt, pull it back down and clean it again.

Also what makes you think it is from the valve seats?

I did not do the assembly. The builder told me it was rta.

I don't know where its from. I just know where it's ending up.

I going to try a shop vac today.

I guess I need a new head gasket?

This x1000.

Builder should be/is responsible, absolutely no way that flies.

Do not try to clean it out.

Load it back up and take it to the builder, and show him.

If he has any pride in his work, he will cover the expense of the new HG. He will pull it down and clean it and assemble it back.

Anybody and everybody can have an off day, I know I do, But If I miss something or there is an issue with something I machined or build, I would want the customer to bring it back and give me the option to make it right.
