Does anyone know how to adjust the trunk torsion bars?

Hey all, my trunk seems to open VERY fast! I'm installing a trunk release solenoid and I don't want the trunk crashing into the rear glass /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bawling.gif

I see the torsion bars underneath. However, I don't see any settings for tension like in other cars /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Any ideas???

Thanks

So I take it you don't have a wing on the truck.

They is no way to adjust the torsion bars. If the trunk crashing into the rear glass I have a spare one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Unless someone put on some aftermarket unit to spring open the trunk. Mines just pops and stays down as it should.

I recall there are two possible holes the torsion bars can be inserted into. One of them increases the the spring tension but you may need to rig up a special tool to disconnect and reconnect the bar. If it's stock it should still be using the lower tension.

It actually is in the lower of the two holes mentioned above /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I JUST removed the wing to repair the rusty-a$$ bracket.

I'll try lifting the trunk with it back on /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Thanks for the replies guys /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you disconnect one of the two torsion bars it will just pop up an inch or so when you open it.

However you will need some way to prop it fully open so it doesn't drop on your head.

Get the torsion bars of a non spoiler car.

They have a different P/N because of the different amount of preload on the spring.

Take off the spoiler and jam 4-6kg of ballast weight into the boot lid? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif
