I start this project in Oct of 2010 when I found this car on a local forum. I left work the minute I saw it and bought it for $700. I have been in the DSM game for around 5 years now so I knew it was a once in a life time find. I pick it up a hour after it was posted. Sadly it was sitting for some time and it would not start, the battery was on life support. I had it towed back and that's where the fun started. I had two options, keep the car and add another project to my list or part out the car and double or even triple my money. I have always loved vr4's so this is where the journey begins.

Performance Mod that the car came with .
3" turbo back exhaust
Aeromotive FPR
XTD stage 2 clutch
Auto meter boost and volt gauges
HKS turbo timer
SAFC-2
rewired 255 fuel pump
Battery relocated to truck
550cc injectors
Socketed and chipped ecu
SS brake lines with new pads and rotors
AGX KYB adjustable shocks front and back
FMIC with HKS bov

The Extras
4 bolt rear end
Uncut BG(belize green) front bumper
Ecu (unsure what it is for. Best guess is it is a 1g turbo fwd, didn't work in a awd 1g and case numbers don't match ecu)

Onto the pics ...

The Day I picked it up

Got the car started, it was a combo of dead battery and failing head gasket. After starting there was some loud knocking, so ripped the engine apart to find this.
The remains of the bearing for cylinder one

Some nice scoring on the rod and crank.

Wow, I can't believe how horrible this car was treated after I sold it. It was in damn near perfect condition when I had it.

Props for bringing it back to life. If you ever decide to sell it please let me know, I would love to buy it back.

It wasn't in the worst of shape, beside the engine, driver side ball joints and tie rod. Body is in great shape with little to no rust. I will keep you in mind if I ever sell it but I don't think I will be saying bye bye to the galant anytime soon.

out with the old and in with the new

For some reason there was a 13g on the car, a bit small so it needed to go

New evo3 16g ported and polished

VHT coated hot side

FP2 cams

FP race manifold before baking the VHT coating

After

Bead blasting the stock rims

Cleaned up the valve cover and laid down some new paint. I'm a fan of the stock look.

so it begins....

I had an extra 6-bolt laying around, it was meant for the 2g, but I ended up using it for the galant build.

Added ARP head studs, and cometic head gasket

Fast forward ....

What paint did you use on the manifold and hot side. I wasn't aware they made a rattle can that would he up under the temps a turbo see's. I know the high temp I sprayed 1947's manifold lasted all of 2 seconds before it just fell off.

VHT FlameProof Paint, it can withstands temperatures up to 2,000°F. It must be baked on in a oven. It's sold at most car part stores now. I have a friend that painted his hotside and manifold almost a year ago and it is still holding strong.
