Is is truly necessary to run a huge cam on a auto auto setup? When I hear a auto car go down the strip I don't think they are running the biggest cams possible

awah? an auto auto setup?

i don't know much about auto's, but i can tell you that your setup has to match very well to be effective (like with any other setup)

like driggsy says, you need to decide what kind of power you want, and when to dish it out. if you're building this all out drag car like you have planned, you would probably want a setup to work in the very high RPM's. likewise, you'd have a high stall converter to keep the RPM's up, a large frame turbo, built head setup to flow well and rev high, and the big cams will come along with it because smaller setups just aren't getting everything they can out of the headwork, IMO.

again, going back to the comment about power you want and when you want it, i have a friend who has a T3 BW S362 (i think) in an auto setup, and he decided to go back to a stock intake manifold and stock cams to try to improve boost at the line. i believe this is his strategy as opposed to re-stalling the converter.
