planning to get some new wheels and tires, cant decide if i should go with 17s or 18s. thoughts are greatly appreciated. also post some pics of some 17s or 18s on the vr4 if you got them.
17s, no question. 18s look a bit too big and the ride will suffer a bit more. Having some sidewall is good.
One of my favorite looking setups was Brianawd's 16" bronze Rotas with a nice meaty tire. It looks aggressive and with a good tire with a stiff sidewall, the car will perform better.
those 16s look good but i dont know if i could go that low where i live. roads here were built for trucks and semi's.
ended up finding some 17s that ill run for a while and see how i like em.
I have had both 18 and 17inch. I like the look of the 18inch more. Filled the car out better in my opinion. Also depends on the tire size and the drop you have to pull it off. I had 225-40-18. I now have 17inch on my car.
just got my 17s and test fitted them with some 205 40 17s and i never realized how big of a wheel well the galants had. what kinda drop would you recommend for some 205 45 17s and some 225 45 17s. i actually just pm'd you bobdole about some prices.
Mike I tend to agree, I have 18s on my other car. I think the trick with 18s is to run black or a dark colour as they look smaller. Your car looks fine in that photo. I think if you look at some cars with 18s in white or silver they can look a bit bigger. I still don't think it's a huge problem for looks, probably affects performance a lot more. Not sure I agree with the suggestion that they make the ride less comfortable though. It depends on your setup and how much clearance you have but if you can run a taller tyre I would think it would be more comfortable. Mountain bikers have been singing the virtues of 29ers over 26ers for years because bigger wheels make the ride quality better.
