Idiot Bulb/Light Check and Red idiot light coming on

I do have a service manual yet, so I was wondering if you all could help me.

When I step on it hard, there is a red idiot light that flashes. on the right hand side of the dash.

I put the key in the ignition position without turning it on (as you do with most cars) to see which bulbs would light up.

I noticed that 2 bulbs weren't lighting up on the right hand side and oil pressure seems to be one of them.

Is the oil pressure light supposed to come on when you do the bulb check (if I am indeed checking my bulbs the right way)?

If I had the answer to this, I could probably rule out the oil pressure light coming on during hard acceleration. Hopefully it is just a brake light!

Thanks!

The oil light has to come up with the key in the "on" stand. But it happend to me once as well. I stepped on it quite hard, and suddenly there was a flash of a red warning light in the right corner of the dash. After a couple of mins there was a second flash. Pulled over, stopped the car and checked my oil level. It was just on the minimum level. That black 6th gen of me used serious oil right after i purchased it, and i didn't know that because i only had it for a few days, maybe a week.

You've got 3 different key positions. Lock, acc(accessoires),on and start. With the key in the "on position" the oil light should come up.

Well all, it turns out that the oil light flickering is the check engine light acting as a shift light. The previous owner
performed a modification by way of the EEPROM lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like he meant: "What I thought was the oil light it actually the CEL. And it's acting as a shift light, due to a mod to the EPROM chip."

Not that the oil light is programed as a shift light.
