How important is wheel width, mostly for straight line stuff, versus wheel weight? Are wide wheels really only for big power and lateral grip ie cornering?
So my 5 stud 3kgt swap is done but my R32 GTR wheels (16x8 +30) (7.6? kg?) have a Nissan center bore which is smaller than the Galant, so long story short, they have huge spacers and are stud centric rather than hub centric /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Sexy wheels, bad for street legality and structural integrity.
So I have to go looking for new wheels - I've found a set of sexy Evo 9 wheels (17x8 +38) however there are only 3 of them (4th is stuffed), they're pretty heavy at ~9.2kg and the price is a little high. I can get a replacement wheel but the guy wants $350 for it! The whole set of 4 good wheels with 'meh' quality 225 tires would be $NZ1100-1200. I can also just take the tires for a few hundy which leads me to the next pary...
There's a few sets of lightwieght wheels on TradeMe - CE28N, SE37K, Advan RS but they're all 17x7.5 (and between 6.3 and 6.8kg) and can't guarantee that they will fit over the big brakes and would also cost the same if not more as the Evo 9 wheels :/
Or I could waste $1500 on Rota DPT (CE28N copies) at 17x9.0 without tires /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif
Am I being to finicky about 0.5" wheel width?
