385/2000 after a wash and wax that didn't do much


Didn't even get the chance to change the oil gatta love the VR-4

Well finally getting some progress heres a few pics for mean while

20 year old transmission after a quick power wash

Sand Blasted the Tranny not sure what color I should paint it

That's a good setup, and all most really need. What about the drivetrain? Did you just clean it up while the engine was out? I can't stand when people put filthy parts back onto the car after they have been removed.

Yea perrty much since its out might as well clean it plus I found out we have a sand blaster at work and I can use it when ever I'm on my time off. For the drivetrain im looking into Jacks maybe replace the sncryos get there double 2nd gear still not sure and a 4 bolt rear end when I could find one at the yards.

So I ended up ordering there Race Series Bearings Made In Australia more like it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Builds looking good, I miss being in Bako. I'm glad that I'm at 4300 ft above elevation though, it's about 10 deg. cooler. I do hate how far I have to travel to get to L.A. and the Ventura, it's quite the drive but a fun one. Good luck with the build

Glad to find out I have this tranny /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif click might go for there evo 1st and double syncro 2nd and evo 5th not 100% sure yet

One of my new toys 1/2 50-250ft/tq neighbour sold it to me for 20 big ones /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif guess the company he works for is getting all new tools. It was recalibrate last year might be time for another calibration.

Finally picked up my Evo 9 suspension got it from a guy I met at the Buttonwillow race track just ganna have to sand it down take the surface rust out and give it a coat of paint.

Thanks I just sprayed some paint over the rust spots for meanwhile.

Now I just gotta figure if I I want to keep stock springs or get some after market springs any suggestions?
 

Seeing this thread for the first time. I bought 390/2000 which also happens to be Nile Black from it's original owner! Granted it didn't come with all the maintenance records like yours, but still pretty crazy that 2 so closely numbered stayed with the original owners so long! Good work so far!

If you haven't already done it, I would recommend you replace the 2 outer exhaust manifold studs with larger ones (2g style) while you've got it all apart.
