Pitting cam lobes

Whats the cause of the cam lobes to start pitting? Are they still safe to run?

Pitting? You mean as rust pits? I would not sure cams if they started pitting. Usually mean corrosion is starting.

How old are the cams? Type?

I had the same problem, the minor pitting also made very minor sounds. During my engine rebuilt i got my cams polished from the engine machinist. Good as new. But that is because 4g63 parts are hard to find here and this was the only option.

Just have them polished and they will be fine. Doing it with a set I'm picking up as well.
