What does the fuel pressure solenoid do?

In cleaning up vacuum lines, some of you have suggested eliminating the fuel pressure solenoid. What does the fuel pressure solenoid do and why eliminate it?

Slightly raises fuel press at hot start, for improved hot start. Mine has been out for years & I have never had a hot start issue with or without the thing.

 

Why remove it though? Is there a benifit?

Gets rid of some unneeded ugly on the firewall, otherwise no particular benefit.
