Viewing past threads

Is it not possible to view threads that were once locked? I was just searching through trying to find some old gems (the locked ones are the best ones) and couldn't find some of the ones I was looking for via search.

They are probably deleted? I think Steef said they only archive the good threads. So I guess the drama-llama spec locked threads would not make the cut. Although Hertz probably keeps them in his souper sekret backup.

That is correct. All of the sections have some sort of purge on them except how-to and maybe the GG, BG? Typically 1 year unless the thread is deemed worth keeping around.

It varies but we are up 2 years now in some.

 

Is that why the last page of Anything GOes (252) has threads from 2005, 2007, &2008? They were deemed useful?

It's possible they were stickied at some point which sets the Keep flag. Generally speaking we try to Keep threads that are unique or technical or move them to the archive. Sections have always had relatively short retention as a way to combat database lag. This has generally become less of an issue.
