SEARCHING A TOPIC
If you do a search and come up with lots of hits for the same threads over and over, you may want to modify your search criteria to EXCLUDE any duplicate threads. The following method should do a good job of doing that. Lets say I'm searching for "trim paint" but I'm getting too many duplicate results. I can search instead for
+"trim paint" -Re:
This will require the words "trim paint" and exclude any threads that contain the string "Re:" which normally indicates a reply to a thread.
Note that you may end up excluding valid posts from your search results, but as long as the first post that started the thread matches your criteria, you will find your way.
