and I need that. Unless anyone will tell me "GVR47111K, don't waste your money there you idiot" , then most likely I'll be buying that tranny.

Last chance for any locals to make a quick buck off me. I need a trans bad /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thanks,

You talk to the folks at Jack's Transmission in CSprings? His STG1 builds start at $700 and they're about 60 miles from ya.

Just left a message with Jack's as there was no answer but I couldn't really find anything besides rebuild options on their site. Now I wait for a call back.

Unless my memory is fuzzy, I remember Justin telling me about a bad experience or two with Jack's (before he sold his car, that is) and Justin knew his stuff.

That kinda made me a little skeptical but I'm still open to ideas.

I've been a customer of Jack's since around 2004, and never had a bad issue. If there were ever any issues, they always take care of me and sorted everything out. Jack's does have units there(not always for GVR4, but its worth a shot), but be aware: If you're going to go there for a basic rebuild and all that jazz, a core is necessary or you'll be spending $200 extra for thier core charge.

ALSO: the easiest way to get ahold of someone at the shop is via email. There are links on thier site with their contact information.

Hope that helps!

-Jake

P.S. The part number they list in that ad is a FWD trans, part number, not an AWD trans.

Jack's returned my call, I believe I spoke with "Tim".
Told me $1300, $400 for a core, $900 for a stage 1.1 build.

I might be able to go to a trans shop my pops used way back in the day but they want to see the core to get a better idea.
He might be cheaper, also.

Jake: the link I posted is a FWD trans? Or Jacks listed a FWD trans part number?

I have to agree with the above. I've had two transmissions built by Jack's shop. Both units performed flawlessly and I am not what you would call easy on them. It is a little more costly than just slapping in a used transmission but you will be much happier. Just my 2 cents.

since you live there in colorado, i would buy a jack's just for the simple fact of you get a receipt and if something goes wrong they can fix it easy because your right there.

Sorry, but you're out of your mind if you're considering an autozone transmission. Espescially over the option of having one from a specialist in Mitsubishi transmissions.

Go to Jack's. Period. The end. If you have a bad experience, you are close enough to do something about it.

Every place I've seen a tranny rebuilt at that was *not* a DSM tranny shop has managed to screw it up.

I just had a car in my garage that was completely built at Jack's yesterday. Aside from what I already know from over the years, after seeing what a complete build will get you, I would never take my car there. Let alone buy parts from there. Buyer beware.

I have no experience with Jack's, but based on what I've seen from other's experiences that can be found all over the 'net (including a lot of bad ones)...I'd rather roll the dice with a Jack's trans over one from Autozone.
