transfer case tail seal...

Anyone ever replace their transfer case tail seal? It looks easy to get to. I just wondered if there are any tricks I should know?

 

I know I need to. I noticed a puddle but when I went to top it off the transfer case starting overflowing like it was completely full. I'm not driving it in the meantime but I need to fix it before its a big problem. Did you check if you car had the recall yet? If not they are still warranting it but when I called on mine it was done in 1996.

No I never called on mine. The closest mitsubishi dealership is like 90 mins away.

The rest of the driveshaft rebuild has been a nightmare! Should have just bought an aluminum replacement, lol.

Oh geez don't tell me that. Its next on my list. I just put the tail seal in. It wasn't that bad.

Most of the time it's not the tail seal but infact the driveshaft yoke cap behind the uni joint which leaks.

iron case transfer is much much stronger.

I know this. But it wasn't leaking from there, but from under the dust cover on the transfer case.
