I'm doing the transfer case recall kit on my GVR4. I dropped the xfer case and have the driveshaft end laying on the ground. I sprayed some liquid wrench on the circlip, but it won't budge. I broke a couple ends of my circlip pliers (the removable tips) trying to remove. Are there any tricks to getting these out?

Use something to pry them out as you grip them with the pliers. Does the kit comes with new clips? If not you may as well order some new ones.

I just did this and mine were rusted badly. It is much easier to remove the driveshaft to replace the u joint. I first sprayed them with PB blaster and let it sit for at least a day. I then took a nail and put them in the holes of the circlips and hammered the nail as I pried it free. I usually breaks it free enough to use the pliers to take them the rest of the way out. Using a small screwdriver to pry them out.

I've had some luck with a hook style pick. I usually break the clip free/get one end to move a schoshe, and then put the pick tool thru it and pull towards the center, and then kind of unwind it from the groove.

Please wear safety glasses

I PB blastered mine, along with taking the Autozone ball joint press I was using and *pressing* them with the clips still on. This takes as much tension as possible off them along with putting on force to break it free for rust. You may also want to use some heat.
