when I was still on 15's I was running 205/60/15's go with a good tire & a speed rating of "h" or higher to help with the handling, stiffer sidewalls on higher speed rated tires & typically a softer compound, both will help.

I've had 205/55/15s on once. Specifically the Falken Ziex 512s. Tires were awesome in the summer. Because of bad alignment, the tires only lasted about 25,000. Supposively these tires are "all season". Tires were decent in winter, probably about 2.5/5 in winter. I'm currently on the 195/60/15 512s H-Rated. Tires burn pretty darn fast when you don't have your car done for an alignment. But, being on an H Rated tire, it went out pretty quickly and I'm pretty much due for new tires once spring comes in. I believe our cars are supposed to have T-Rated tires but please correct me if I'm wrong.

There are many factors that play in if you want a longer lasting tire; speed, tire pressure, weight, etc etc etc. But, if I had a choice of all season tires, it'd be investing into the Michelins for the high end.

For my personal usage
Summer = BFG G-force
Winter = All seasons because GVR4 in winter is just pure pwnage

EDIT:
Personally, stick with the 195-60-15 tires. To me, the car feels where it should be. With the 205-55-15 tires, the sidewalls are a bit smaller compared to the 60 series so if you hit a small pot hole, you'll feel a slightly harsher bump compared with the 60 series, but this is me, it will vary.

Definitely 205-50, or 205-55 FTW! 1947 has 205-50 and it sits perfect and rides/handles nice.

If you get a 60 series tire its going to start to look like a monster truck with the big side wall. stick with a 205/50-55/15 tire

Over here my tyre of choice is a Pirelli P6000, I have the in "v" rated. Not the quietest, but the water dispersal is ace and the difference between wet and dry is negligable.

Had Falkens ziex 512s, goodyear eagle gt, yokohama a359 on my sunny and they were ace in the dry, but the slightest sniff of moisture and you had to totally alter the way you weighted the car up. Scary sh*t in the near constant drizzle we get here.

For tyre sizes width is purely a preference thing. I like strong stock size tyres.

The side wall height is the % of the width so 0.6 of 195 is 117mm sidewall. 0.5 of 205 is 102.5mm sidewall, 0.55 of 205 is 112.75mm sidewall so a small difference in rolling diameter of 8.5mm(2x4.25) from 195/60/15 to 205/55/15
