timing belt tool

hey all, #671 ended up messing up the #2 rings and piston, so im in the process of doing the timing belt, whats the tool i have to use for the tensioner or something equvilant i can use lol thanks

You can make the tool out of a dsm stock battery tie down bolt. Good for a couple jobs.

I think there's a how-to on vfaq.

Just take off the tensioner, put it in a vice to compress it and put a pin through. Reinstall the tensioner, reinstall the belt. Done.

Or you could use a screwdriver, it takes two people but it works.
Just get underneath(assuming the motor is in car)
get a flat head screwdriver and put screwdriver into one of the tensioner holes

Or you could just buy the timing belt tool from Jay Racing. Its only $15 and will last a lot longer than the battery tie down and is much easier than the screw driver method.

You could do any of those things, but I would highly recommend that Jay Racing kit. I have it and I love it, it also gets passed around the local dsm community in exchange for favors.
