I was wondering if anyone knows if a 90 dsm shifter will work on a 92 gvr4.... i put it on but was wondering if it would have any bad effects in the long run?
thanks
This vfaq has a lot of pictures outlining the differences. The difference between a 91-94 shifter and a stock VR4 shifter is that the part above the fulcrum on the front/back lever is longer longer on the VR4. The bottom has the exact same geometry between VR4 shifter and 91-94 DSM.
I don't know if you'll have any adverse affects other than your throws being fairly long and your shift knob sitting much lower than stock. Do a search for something like '+shifter -re: -fs:' and I'm sure lots of useful information will pop up. I myself have done a bit of work making short throw shifters the last few months, so If you have any questions feel free to direct them at me.
Yeah, you only really want to use it with the 90 cables and trans bracket (what i am doing currently) But I dont know for a fact if it will cause any problems like you have it either...

For the long answer search under my name. I made a post a few weeks ago about my opinion about the effect on shift effort and throw of a 90 vs. 91+ shifter.
