Jack-shaft hanger bolts

Can anyone tell me the length/size/pitch of the two bolts that hold the jack/half-shaft carrier to the back of the block? *grumble*

Here's what CAPS has to say:

MB297860 BOLT,FR AXLE PILOT POINT,10X41.5

I'd guess 10 x 1.5 thread pitch, 41.5mm long.

be careful with the thread pitch! I think its different than the other similar sized bolts on the car. Best bet is just to order the bolts and washers from the dealer.

You can use one of the top two gearbox bellhousing bolts.
If you were stuck in the bush and you wife is pregnant and

These bolts have a tendency to strip or cross thread, and if they do, you'll have to pull the motor to do a proper repair. I try to make sure that they will thread in well by hand, just to give myself a little extra margin of comfort.

We generally just remove the cross-member to get to these repaired.
Gives you enough room to drill it even if you don't have a right angle drill.
