Goals are pretty weird, actually....

Right now, i DD the car, have been since i got it. With the evoiii 16g and the pink 560's im seeing about 20-22mpg, driving around 40-45 miles a day (mostly highway at 70+mph)to and from work, running errands, etc etc etc. needless to say, not the most economical car. While you may say my mileage isnt bad, my prevous DD's all got around/over 30 mpg. Thats quite a difference.

The way i see it, with this turbo and the fuel system i have for it already (pte 980's and another inline 255), plus the fairly large .82 hot side, AND come to find out built bottom end (JE/eagle), and the AEM coupled with a kick ass tuner (Servion, of servion tuning. Google him), i should be able to see 500+whp at 6200ft elevation on 91 pump, and as long as i can stay out of it(yea. Right.) a fairly significant increase in MPG. That, and I also have this thing about being told i cant run at the track anymore....

So, in a nutshell, im looking to run better than an 11.49 1/4mile, break the 500whp mark on pumpgas uncorrected at altitude, and pick up a few MPGs as well.

Like i said, goals are kind of "weird".

On paper it's acheivable as long as all the stars allign properly... Still a tad "iffy", but i have faith in my setup/tuner, especially considering this turbo setup came off of another couple DSMs that both dyno'd over 560whp. And by this setup, i mean exactly this setup.

Widh me luck!! If anything, in order to reach my goals i'll simply pick up some 1600s and switch to corn. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I like your method of madness. Increase fuel economy with a big turbo lol

ironically, it does.

let's use highway crusing as an example. at 70-75 mph, you are turning roughly 3,000 RPM's. with a small frame turbo (14b, 16g) it is very easy to get into boost, getting into the higher load cells of the ECU, and running in-boost AFR's. let's say its 11.0... but if you are crusing with say, a 35r, at 3k you aren't going to get that rich, even if you slam on the gas. all this assuming that both cars are tuned properly.

Any news?

Nothing as of yet, still acquiring parts and such. Ive had my feelers out for a few intercoolers and other things, but they all fell through. Im wanting something that'll basically be overkill for my meantime power goals. I do plan to put together a high-comp bottom end sometime in the near future, adn then Im going to shoot for basically maxing the setup out and having around 600-650AWHP. Of course, at that point the car will no longer be a DD.

Sorry so uneventful....Work has been owning me around 65-70hrs a week for the last few months, and that's more than anything the real hold up.

With any luck I'll find some time and parts, get it moving. we'll see!

Exaaaaactly. In the sense of fuel economy lag=GOOD. AND, if I feel like beating the piss out of it, I can always downshift and brakeboost.

WIN/WIN!

Thanks! It is indeed SW. All except the front bumper, which is either a different color, or was prepped differently/etc, because its ever so slightly lighter than the rest of the car. You can only tell at certain angles/lights though.

I had a core lined up, ETS race core, but it wound up falling through on me. So, im prettymuch just patiently waiting to come accross another good deal and jump on it if possible. I comb the local craigslist as often as i can for deals, so we'll see!

And thanks James, appreciate it!

okidoke!

Slight/small update:

Recently got my new FMIC core headed this way. Decided to go with a DSM T/E/L style back door core, similar to ETS's street core or similar to this: click . Dimensions of the core are 24x8x3.5, should work just fine for my modest street setup. I also have the oil lines coming from extremepsi. I went the route of the OFH feedline, and a socketless setup: click .

I also picked up a set of these: click . They're 16x7.5 +15, and fit fantastically. They give it a very "all business" look, which I definitely dig. I need to find a decent set of tires to throw on there, Im thinking either 215/55/16 or 225/50/16 in something like the Azenis RT615k's or similar....we'll see.

Im waiting on a new SMIM to be ready for pickup, a magnus street unit being re-welded and sealed/pressure tested. The janky one the car came with proved inefficient and unreliable, and Ive blown out 3 intake manifold gaskets due to the chinsy/thin head flange warping. I plan to order myself a thermal gasket, and install my NT throttlebody at the same time I swap in this *new* manifold.

I still have to go through the mounts and press in my inserts, but being as I have access to a shop/press where I'll be doing all the wrenching, it souldnt take longer than an hour or so, then I can get into the rest of the fab as far as mating the DP to the rest of the exhaust and such. Shouldnt be too badd, really. Im also thinking about upgrading the radiator to the Afco unit. Found a pretty good deal on one, just need to bite the bullet and get it headed this way... I'll be sure to snap a ton of pics and get everything posted as I progress. This is still my DD, so I kind of have to be well thought out and precise with its transplants/etc...

There is also a local 1a FS here, needs a bottom end. Im seriously contemplating picking the car up to use for its goodies, like ABS delete, RWS delete, %lug, LSD/etc.... not 100% on that yet though.

Im hoping to have it finished, and ready for the dyno in less than a month. As of now, I have a prospective Dyno appt for the 19th of Jan. Needless to say, Im pretty excited. It's been way too long since I've had a car on the dyno, I almost forgot what this felt like!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Anywho, thats about all I've got.... I'll keep you's posted!

Super slow now, lag is rediculous comapred to the e3 16g that was on there prior. Need to get the new intercooler on and get to tuning it. 5lbs is what the wastegate was at without the boost controller hooked up. Now ive got it at about 14psi, which has the 560s at 60% duty cycle. I plan to mess with it a bit more tomorrow.
