Yeah, those are harder to come by these days. If you're still running DDR you should probably pitch the whole thing.

$50 for 2x 1GB DDR modules in your old ass P4 / Athlon 64 ($25 each on newegg)

vs

$15 slickdeals motherboard the other day, $12.50 2GB DDR3, $40 Sempron 145 = $67.50 for a much faster mobo/cpu/ram

Yeah I know its a Dell Dimension 4600, I figured I'll put more memory we only use it for surfing the net.
Whoa, curious now, will those motherboard fit on Dell cases?

4600 has four RAM slots. What does it have installed in it now? I could probably get ahold of four matching 512's pretty easily.

Yes, I have installed many a motherboard into that style case. If it has an IDE hard drive, most new motherboards only have one IDE channel, so you need a LONG IDE cable so you can slave the optical drive to the hard drive. You also need a 20 pin to 24 pin adapter for the power supply. You may have to break down the connector for the front panel (power, ide led, power led) which is easy enough. Just a matter of popping the pins out of the Dell connector with a paper clip and sliding them onto the motherboard one by one in the appropriate place. Easier than it probably sounds. You're only talking a small added cost/hassle vs. a "normal" case.

It has 2 256 and 2 512's now. I'm looking for 2 1GB's. I found a pair of 1gb for $38 on Ebay, I guess that is a good price.
Ah good to know it can be done, you know what I could probably ask for a Dell Optiplex 520\745\755 case from work as well.
Thanks Paul.
