Has anyone had any luck with a Miata battery in their GVR4? Pep Boys has a old style Miata (the good, AGM type) for a good price. It's small, lightweight, and won't leak. It also has a good warranty. Cold cranking amps is pretty low, but I figure a low compression 2.0 is probably easier to turn over then a high compression 1.8. Any reason not to use this battery?

For you I don't see you having any problems. Those small baby batteries weren't enough when things got to zero degrees Fahrenheit in Michigan.

I used a Deka Miata battery in my GVR-4. The battery was re-located the the trunk and it would start the car right up even sitting for two weeks at a time.

so people cant start their miatas when it gets below zero?

the battery is really only there to turn the starter. i've had a miata battery in my 1g for over a year now, zero issues. works like you'd expect a new battery to.

It wasn't enough to turn my 2.3l in Michigan on a cold morning. Miata's will crank over just fine in 0 degree Fahrenheit assuming the battery is in good shape.

@ nsin. I just about laughed out of my seat when I saw that. PS taking this into consideration seeing as I just posted a new thread on batteries. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif
