well, looks like luck is on my side for once. No fried alternator, but the insulation that I placed on the alternator wires/plugs was somehow touching the terminal of the alternator and shorted it to the block??!! so I don't get any charge from the alternator. Found it by jiggling the wires and heard what sounded like spark jumped and with some careful angles and flashlight, I saw the damn thing sparked with jiggle.

I would recommend getting a heat shield between the exhaust and the alternator. Saves that things life.

Where would you buy a heat shield?I have a dump pipe, wich dumps the hot exhaust right onto the alternator.Im actually thinking of replacing it now, because i go trough alternators too much.

Get a alternator relocation kit, I think there's a couple out now a days. But I would guess that you would have to make a shield up yourself.
I'm trying to get some specs on the kit to have my friend mill a couple up at his machine shop. I hate looking at the alt down in the front /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

That might be a problem. I would recommend moving the dump pipe or something.

And I mean making one out of sheet metal looks pretty simple. Maybe, after the 23rd (my GRE date) I will make a template for everyone /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was thinking about doing a relocation but I kinda want to re-install my A/C /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bawling.gif

I have same reasoning as far as relocating the alternator and deleting the a/c.Summers can get pretty hot out here,so that is not an option.Probably just going to remove the dump pipe and install a regular o2 housing. As much as i like the dump pipe,in the end its just not worth it.
