So 1501 is officially on JSB status for the first time since I have owned it. $2,500 spent on parts so far, none of which add any HP /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bawling.gif, and I haven't even drove the thing yet. Let the mad rush to get it together in time for the DSM/EVO Shootout begin!

Some fun finds of DSM-esque junk during my day

Not all of the control arm bolts were tightened when a P.O. installed new ones

Hose clamps on AN line???

Huge T-case leak, found out 4/5 bolts were installed

I forgot to get pics of the best two surprises. My steering rack is junk, leaking everywhere with both boots torn. Plus one of my strut top hats rusted in half and completely separated once the car went on jack stands and put downward weight on it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

So 1501 has basically became my full time job, as not taking it to the Shootout isn't an option. When this started, my goal was to be able to race it, that's not going to happen now.
The front is totally disassembled, so I can do the bushings. I went the cheap route since I'm short on time, and just used some rust treatment and rattle canned everything.

After the rust treatment, I have to wait 24 hours until I can paint. The 5 lug hubs are sandblasted and ready to go. I'm not doing the control arms or steering rack, as I replaced both of them with new parts.

I am using a full DSM rear subframe and suspension when I do my 4 bolt swap, to get rid of the rear steering rack. Here it is in my truck on the way to the shop. Mmmmm... rusty

All broken down, and the bushing removed and holes cleaned up

And some more random goodies have shown up. I'm only waiting on my order from JNZ still. Anyways

3SX adjustable rear arms

New OEM rear main seal and housing

So in my mad rush to get the car to the Shootout, I didn't get to take as many pics and update this thread as much as I wanted to .

I ended up using my spare 4 bolt DSM rear end temporarily, since I didn't have time to finish my BoostX bushings and Jay's Toe Eliminator kit in time for Norwalk

Bought a new manual steering rack for a 1.8 Eclipse, newer out tie rod ends were already installed by the previous owner. I also bought new bushings from JNZ Tuning. I love the way it feels, not too much effort

Rear main seal and new housing intalled. We did all of the timing belt side gaskets and front main seal as well

I installed a new 2G clutch fork and new OEM pivot ball while I was in there. The 2G for in noticeably larger, and is an upgrade

Here are a couple of shots of the car borrowed from the Shootout thread. Wheels are Milano's that came on an FD RX7 I parted out. I don't know much about them. My friend sprayed them, its amazing how much direct lighting changes the color. I'm also stoked to rock the OG EVO plate, its had tags for 6 months while I've been accumulating parts.

Here a few better shots of the new wheels and my engine bay. The wheel color is more green than I was anticipating, but I do like it alot

Indirect lighting

Direct lighting

Full engine bay

A shot at the Avid mount and the ABS delete/power steering delete. Cleans that side of the bay up so much!

Do you find any slack on your SS clutch line compared to the hardlines + SS?

What's your take on it so far?

Are you talking about slack in the line itself, or more about the pedal feel? I'm not really sure what your asking?

The line fits damn near perfect, and you are able to use alot of existing brackets to hold it in place. It cleans things up alot compared to the stock metal hard lines. As for pedal feel, I didn't drive the car much before, but I don't have any complaints. I can't shift at high RPMs until I rebuild my pedal assembly though.

Sorry i meant to say pedal feel.

Ive read that with brakes and clutch system, you dont want the line expanding (even if its SS lines) and to keep most if not all hardlines to prevent any reduce pedal feel.

I've read similar info about keeping metal lines for that purpose. I honestly can't say I feel any difference with the SS line being installed. I can say that I am happy with the amount of pedal pressure I have, and it doesn't feel spongy at all.
